    We have been servicing British Columbia generator needs since 1975 and Vancouver Island since 2020 with the focus on the service and sales, rental, and installation of new and used diesel, natural gas, & propane powered industrial generators from a variety of manufacturers.

    The Opportunity:

    The Shop Service Technician has a primary focus on activities related to physical shop and building facility, service vehicles, rentals, as well as new and used equipment.

    Qualifications/Experience:
    • High School Diploma
    • Electrical experience with AC/DC low voltages desired
    • Basic knowledge of Internal Combustion Engines & Electricity
    • Basic troubleshooting skills; be able to evaluate, repair and operate gensets
    • Maintain and repair building grounds and/or equipment as well as perform other maintenance functions
    • Skilled in operation of forklift
    • Current driver licence (Class 5) is an asset
    • Computer and accurate data entry skills
    Primary Responsibilities:
    • Maintains a well-organized and safe work environment – ensures all necessary safety controls are in place; MSDS sheets and other safety materials are accessible and available as required.
    • Keep work areas, shop floor and other areas clean and maintained
    • Performs with shipping and receiving as necessary; operate forklift
    • Manages recyclables and waste:
      • Waste oil & coolant
      • Recycle plastic, cardboard, oil filters, beverage containers, paper, batteries, metals, etc.
    • Schedule and perform regular maintenance of shop vehicles according to fleet management policy
    • Ensures rental units are operational throughout the entire rental process – (ie., tire pressure, licence plates, full fuel tanks)
    • Performs troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repairs on all rental and used equipment including:
      • Checking units in and out
      • PM Service intervals, including units on-site with customers
      • Follows all safety rules, including perform lock out/tag out procedures
    • Prepares new equipment for commissioning as directed by sales.
    • Works as directed with other technicians – help load & unload equipment and supplies.
    • Works in coordination mostly with technicians and parts person, and develops a collaborative relationship with the rest of the team to establish efficient workflow making the best use of time to reduce/eliminate duplication of efforts and unnecessary work.

    The Opportunity:

    As a Field Service Technician, you will be the ‘face’ of the company for the Service Department for our growing customer base. As a primary technical support contact your focus will include effective and consistent delivery of maintenance and operational excellence that enhances the company’s core values and purpose.

    You will be responsible for preventative maintenance, servicing, diagnosing and executing complex repairs to generators and associated components at our customer’s facilities as well as participating in the installation and commissioning of new generators.

    Qualifications/Experience:
    • Hold a provincial qualification in at least one of the following fields: diesel engine, heavy-duty, mechanic, or electrician.
    • Experienced with different makes/models/manufactures of power generation equipment and associated components including fuel systems, cooling, heating, driveline, exhaust, transfer switches.
    • Excellent at problem-solving/trouble-shooting – proven history of being able to solve complex problems, source appropriate additional resources where required and follow jobs through to completion.
    • Assets include ASTTBC certification or willingness to demonstrate your ability to become certified as a Registered Fire Protection Technician with ASTTBC.
    • Knowledgeable of current CSA282 requirements
    • Customer-service focused – able to build and sustain long-term customer relationships.
    • Proven ability to manage conflict effectively.
    • Professional demeanor.
    • Understand importance for a clean and organized work area.
    Primary Responsibilities:
    • Develop and maintain productive customer relationships and provide prompt and efficient support for customer needs.
    • Repair, troubleshooting, start-up and maintenance of mobile and power plant electrical generators and associated equipment including engine controllers, voltage regulators, control wiring, engine monitoring devices, alternators, load banks and safety systems.
    • Escalate unresolved issues as needed.
    • Establish and maintain excellent communication with office support staff and other management.
    • Provide technical support required for accurate quoting, scheduling and follow ups.
    • Complete and accurate documentation, representative of the work completed - including job work orders, service reports, deficiencies, clock events, and warranty claims per established systems.
    • Provides on call services as part of the field service team rotation -overtime and Saturday availability will be required!
    • Maintain service and fleet equipment/tools for safety and proper operation/cleanliness.
    • Comply with all required Health & Safety and environmental protocol including safe transport and disposal of hazardous materials (fluids, batteries, etc.); documenting and reporting all issues/occurrences to supervisor and appropriate site contacts.
    • Maintain clean work site, professional appearance and manner in all dealings.
    • Actively contribute to the ‘continuous learning’ culture of the company

    Qualifications/Experience:
    • Committed to customer service
    • A minimum of two years’ experience in parts department
    • Computer skill – Quickbooks, ServiceTrade, Asana experience is an asset
    • Accuracy and high attention to detail
    • Generator and generator consumables knowledge is an asset
    • Filters knowledge is an asset
    Primary Responsibilities:
    • Properly identifying needed items for each job
    • Creating PO for each order in the system
    • Placing orders by phone or online using the computer database or parts catalogues
    • Checks in parts as received, matches packing list to parts order
    • Receiving of new generators, equipment, and consumables, ensuring no damage upon arrival/delivery
    • Entering parts information to the system – updating when necessary
    • Updating parts prices in the system regularly
    • Adding invoices, Bill of Ladings, packing lists, etc into the system
    • Maintains documents, files and records
    • Managing phone calls and emails
    • Ensuring parts area is accessible and safe for employees
    • Keep counters, parts storage area clean and neat
    Requirements:
    • MUST have strong computer and accurate data entry skills
